Ars Nova presents Manuel Minguillón, internationally acclaimed Spanish lutenist and guitarist. The programme, "Music in the Time of Don Quijote" includes works by 16th century Spanish composers, Milan, Narvaez, Pisador and de Valderrabano and features the 16th century, paired 12 string instrument, the Spanish Vihuela and the Baroque Guitar.
Manuel Minguillón is considered to be one of the finest early music musicians performing today. He has appeared as both a soloist and in ensemble with many of the world’s great Baroque and Symphony Orchestra’s including the Gabrieli Consort & Players, the Saraband Consort and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Among his recent recordings are the newly discovered Pachelbel Vespers with the King's Singers and the Monteverdi Vespers with the New College Choir, Oxford. Manuel received his Doctorate in Early Plucked Instruments with the renowned lutenist Paul O'Dette at the Eastman School of Music in New York. He is a member of the multidisciplinary research group The Hispanic Baroque where he is researching the baroque Tonos Humanos in Spain. Manuel currently lives and works in London, England.
